1. Select A Niche: Pick a topic that interests you and that you know you can make money with. Don’t go for a niche that is massively popular, like loans or coupons, to start with – find something that will have less competition and that you know you can work with.
2. Choose a Good Affiliate Program: Do your research in the affiliate marketers forums, and find out which programs offer the best support, the best rates and have the best reputations. Spend a lot of time on this step. Decide whether you want to work on financial sites promoting things like payday loans, or book and music sites, mp3 sites or even discount travel sites selling cheap holidays.
3. Set Up Your Site: Now you need to build a good site around your affiliate niche. Make sure the content is interesting and that it will keep visitors interested enough to want to click through. This step might well take you a few weeks to build a site that is of sufficient quality and a few months to keep updating the content.
4. Promote the Site: Use word of mouth, social media, paid advertising – whatever it takes, just start advertising your site.
5. Drive Traffic to Your Site: As with step 4, traffic is everything. When you cant afford to pay for it, you need to get out there and build backlinks. Write guest posts with links back to your site, use Facebook and Twitter, use PR submission and any other tool you can find.
6. Set Up Your Product Review Block: This is where you review the products you want to promote, perhaps through price comparison, or other methods. Make sure you set up the affiliate links correctly.
7. Capture those Email Addresses: Do everything you can to get your visitors to leave their email addresses. Offer them free ebooks or access to some free information that they simply must know. In return they just have to give you their email address.
Lastly, remember that it wont be as easy as the affiliates promise. You wont be the only one out there doing it and you’ll be competing with people who have been doing it for longer than you. But with hard work affiliate marketing can start to bring in serious money!
