FACEBOOK  now aims at The Music & Video Segment

facebook music ventureThere are reports which say that Face book has plans for partnering with online music and video companies for launching a new feature that will integrate outside media into profile pages. It is developing features that will help the users to share their favorite music and videos. It is said that the company is in discussions with various online music companies including European Company Spotify. Facebook along with the collaboration of online music companies are working to develop a tab or widget that will display users frequently played songs and this will allow the friends to hear them easily.

Face book which has got nearly 700 million users, has not made any official announcements regarding the news. But analysts and media executives said that company’s move was a part of fulfilling its ambition to become a platform for all type of activities on internet. In a statement Facebook said that they are looking out for all possible ways which will help people to find most relevant content on Facebook and there was nothing to announce.

With media being highlighted as highly visible part of users profile page, company hopes to repeat its success it had in becoming a wonderful platform for games in other forms of entertainment. Mark Zuckerberg (CEO)  gave a hint on company’s plans during a presentation at the eG8 technology conference in France this week.

Many music services like Spotify and Pandora already allow the users to login with their facebook details and personalize them based on the activities. But Face book aims for making this easier to users by hosting these activities on to their sites.According to some official sources ,Facebook’s media partners will have their role in continuous feed displaying the songs and videos that user is listening to or watching . A click will enable their friends to access the same content .It is known that by using outside partners ,Facebook will not license any contents from record companies or television networks .

The reports regarding the talks with Spotify is appearing repeatedly on technology blogs leading to rumour that Facebook will work with them to create music channel. But people who are aware of Facebook strategies say that the company will not tie itself with single music company ,but will have multiple partners in this. Spotify is available in seven European coutries is conducting talks with major record labels for their distribution in the United States. Last year Facebook had some talks with Apple about bringing social features into iTunes. But it failed as Apple created its own social network with iTunes known as Ping. It is not so popular with the users.
